Trusted Voices
The campaign is working to move public opinion and change public policy in big ways. Therefore, we rely on trusted public voices and institutions to carry our message to our fellow citizens and representatives.
Currently, our focus is on the recent policy statement by the American Public Health Association (APHA) calling for the "Cessation of Military Recruiting in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools" as a public health problem affecting young people in America.
The American Public Health Association is the oldest, largest, and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world. APHA has a 140-year history of trust as the leading voice for sound public health policy in the nation.

Future Allies
Military recruiting intentionally targets the rural and urban poor, especially young people of color. These are groups that have fewer opportunities for economic advancement outside the military.
The campaign hopes to build strong working alliances over time with organizations whose missions are to protect and advance the needs of these more vulnerable populations. Our focus on other forms of public service outside the military as pathways to opportunity could be attractive to them.
Only when we come together in shared ownership and participation across all groups in society for protecting our kids, will this campaign reach its full potential. "Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality."—Martin Luther King Jr.
